Restaurants are currently allowed to consider tips as part of employee salary in avoidance of having to pay a full minimum wage. Whether the good service should be something that a consumer should have to reward, or whether the restaurants and other service-oriented markets should be required to ensure that those they hire are accurately accounted  when formulating a business plan, is The concern regarding server tips.

Some Tips are awarded as part of the experience. But However, there are more than 5,500 current and former restaurant servers and bartenders have sued their employers in protest of some of the work they have committed to perform, even if it is  understood as being part of the position they have been hired to do. The complaint suggests that the time which is spent on work  is part of the consumer experience, but not relevant to any one individual consumer, i.e, in opening and closing the restaurant, in cleaning and stocking, anything that doesn’t involve an extra incentive on a consumer level, should require additional compensation to the employer.

The courts agreed and now the controversy over whether or not servers should be paid regarding to a business idea of satisfied costumer with the quality of the experience as being deliver, can be hired and included as part of  experience, or whether it is just recommended and encouraged by the consumers gratuitous contribution.

High  demand for high-end smartphones, such as the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy Note introduced last year, helped mask lower profit from memory chips, another flagship business  from Samsung.

Lee Ka-keun said “It was a shock for semiconductor,  what a surprise for handset,”, a Seoul-based analyst at Hana Daetoo Securities.

Korea-based company ,The Suwon expects to outdo its record profit in the following quarters. Next week ,It would announce a new version of the Galaxy phone and global demand for personal computers is picking up, bringing more cash for the  memory chipmakers.

Robert Yi, head of investor relations, said “We cautiously expect our earnings momentum to continue going forward, as competitiveness in our major businesses is enhanced,”

Shin Jong-kyun, Samsung’s mobile business president,  in February told  the reporters that it eyes 380 million handset sales this year, including 200 million smartphones. In 2011,The company shipped 330 million handsets, including 97 million smartphones.

5 Tips for Adapting Your Web Site to the International Customers

Why an English-only Web site won’t make it?.

One thing’s for sure that an English-only Web site will not deliver the results your international brand deserves. the potential customers are searching, browsing, purchasing, and rating products through  online in their native languages ,and they would not have it any other way. Research  show that buyers /consumers shy away from making purchases in other languages, especially when the currency isn’t  their own. So if  you would like shoppers finding  your online store and buy your products in the international digital space, the best way is with a Web site that made just for them, in their language and depends  to their local customs.

So how  to adapt your current Web site for international customers? Let’s start it with 5 practical tips to get you speaking the language of E-commerce translation and moving you down the road to multilingual retail.

1. Look , sound and act like a local. More and more search engines are taking the domain location of a search into consideration. A search made in Indonesia favors .id sites over other possibilities, for example, so U.S. is based pages are less likely to rank highly in search results. The solution is to find the right domain extension for each locale that you are targeting, such as .br.nl, .eu, .au, .de, .it, , .jp, or .uk. If it is possible, find a local hosting solution to supply your site with a local IP address as well. By This way, you’ll be instantly friendlier to international search bots’ local bias.

2. Using  the  global ready content management system (CMS). When  you add languages to your site content, maintenance becomes more complex. A global ready CMS streamlines will updates for a frequently changing site, offering support for all targeted languages, smooth workflows, and the ability to easily export and import XML content. The CMS that is fully compatible with Unicode support will enables your site to handle all characters in all languages with no glitches.

3. Adapting  your site design to fit your market. Researching the design norms of your target markets is a key component of successful localization. For example, Japanese users are more attracted to sites with lots of graphics and banners that give multiple entry points, while Western standards tend to favor simpler layouts. Knowing the symbolism of colors, numbers, and preferences—such as typical button size—in your market can help you make these strategic UI design decisions. Red is a popular color in China since it is associated with good luck and prosperity, but the number four is feared (called tetraphobia). If you are sensitive to these subtleties, you’ll make a good first impression.

4. Having a customer-controlled language selector. Automatic selectors based on IP addresses can often backfire in a country with multiple languages, like in Switzerland or  in India. Letting  customers select their own language and country from a list, you will put them in control of their shopping experience right from the beginning, and making them more comfortable with buying your products.

5. Give your content a plenty of breathing room. When the content translated from English, many languages tend to be expanding, making content anywhere from 20 % to 50 % longer. For Mandarin and Arabic, reversing is true, so your text will take up less space, often becoming illegible if sizes are not bumped up a few points. Fit your content into your culturally relevant UI design means a boilerplate solution for all languages might not be the best ; so be aware of what could get cut off or become unreadable.

Interruptions may Impede Productivity

interruption

interruption

For professionals career, seeking to be highly productive, interruptions represent a “breaking apart” of their ability to stay focused on their work  and strive for completion of the task at hand. In many work environments today , the traditional office as well as in mobile settings  each of us are prone to too many interruptions to even approach our potential level of productivity. Why?  Because We are subjected to more potential interruptions than any previous workforce since homo erectus emerged from  the caves.

It is Unprecedented challenges call for unprecedented solutions.  Turning  your cell phone’s ringer off is not enough. It is insufficient to believe that merely closing your office door will safeguard you from the intruders. It’s folly to believe that tomorrow is somehow going to be better than today if we don’t take a certain number of measures that guarantee we can work for 40, 50, or 90 minutes undisturbed when we need to.

Many years ago,  the CEO of the Planning Research Corporation (PRC) in his office on the top floor of a building on K Street in Washington D.C. From this vantage point, he could look out of large picture windows in three directions, including  the west for dozens of miles into Virginia. His office, the foyer leading into it, the receptionist’s area prior to that, the hallway lead to that, and the entire floor was notably more quiet than any of the floors under it. Like so many other top executives, he knew the importance of being able to marinate in his own thoughts.

Most of career professionals, sometime throughout the week, have a change to take command of their immediate environment through a variety of procedures that are quite well known but unfortunately not put into practice as often as one might do so.

Here are offered some suggestions for safeguarding your working environment and minimizing interruptions:

  1. Surrounding yourself with anything you need to fully engage in the change process, that also might involve assembling resources, people, and space, as well as to ensure that you have a quiet environment free of distractions.
  2. Giving yourself the hours or days you need to study, read and absorb what is occurring, and making decisions about how you’ll apply new ways of doing things and new technology to your career, business, or organization.
  3. Go “cold turkey,” which isn’t  recommended for most people! Suspend whatever else you are doing and engage in whatever it takes to incorporate a new way of doing things. This is enhanced by ensuring that you will have no disturbances, bringing in outside experts, and assembling any other resources you need to succeed.

The sooner  as possible we recognize that our interruption-based society is here to stay, at least for now— the sooner we will able to embrace and securely put into place those measures that will ensure that  we can be at our best, today and for the long run.
